Mung's Cove

- Essex County, United States

( rated by 1 user )

The best point break in Gloucester, Mung's can give you a perfect, sometimes hollow, long left that will make you forget the water is 40 degrees and there's ice on your beard. You need to catch it straight offshore or blowing slightly more East or the wind will cause the wave to break too close to the rocks. the bottom is mostly Sandy. But getting stuck inside makes this spot an expert only wave. In winter you can park above the break and walk down to the rocks, But it's generally easier to just suck it up and paddle from the Inn.
